What decides dry time
- Extraction power. The big one. Professional truck-style and commercial machines pull most of the moisture back out during the clean itself. Hired supermarket machines leave far more water behind — that’s where the horror stories of two-day damp carpets come from.
- Carpet type. Dense wool holds more moisture than a low synthetic pile.
- Weather. A dry, breezy Bunbury afternoon beats a still, humid one. Winter cleans dry fine — they just appreciate the tips below.
- How soiled it was. Heavier cleaning uses more water passes.
Speed it up
- Open windows for cross-breeze, or run ceiling fans.
- Air-conditioning on a dry setting works brilliantly in winter.
- Keep foot traffic off until dry — socks-only if you must cross.
