Moving Out of a Rental in Bunbury: A Room-by-Room Cleaning Checklist

Moving week is chaos, and cleaning is the job that gets squeezed. Work through this list room by room — ideally after the furniture is out, when every surface is reachable — and the final inspection becomes a formality.

Kitchen

• Oven: racks out and degreased, glass inside and out, trays
• Cooktop and control knobs; rangehood filter degreased
• All cupboards and drawers, inside and out
• Benchtops, splashback, sink and tapware polished
• Dishwasher filter; fridge cavity if the fridge was yours

Bathrooms & laundry

• Shower screen descaled; grout scrubbed; drain hair removed
• Toilet — including behind the seat hinges and the base
• Vanity, mirror, exhaust fan cover
• Laundry tub, and behind where the washer stood

Every room

• Skirting boards, door frames, doors and handles
• Light switches, power points, light fittings
• Windows inside, sills and tracks
• Ceiling corners and fans; wall marks spot-cleaned
• Wardrobes: shelves wiped, mirror doors polished

Floors — last of all

• Hard floors vacuumed and mopped, edges included
• Carpets professionally steam cleaned — check your lease, it’s commonly required in WA (and nearly always with pets). Keep the receipt for your property manager.

Outside (if it’s yours)

• Cobwebs off eaves and outdoor lights; patio swept; lawn mowed; bins emptied
